How can I start my own arts ministry in my home town?
Ask God. Just kidding, well, not really, but also find some other folks around you who appreciate art and faith and start praying/ brainstorming together about how you can constructively use your passions to grow together in your creativity, your art form, your love of God, and bless your faith community and local city.
I am interested in helping start a Home Community in my neighborhood. What are the first steps in that process?
There are different pathways to starting a Home Community. One option is to simply get involved in a Home Community near you, and let the leadership of that group know that you desire to start your own group. If they assess that you are well shaped to lead a group, they will bring you alongside them in leadership and equip you to go and start your own group. The other option is to participate in the Home Community equipping group led by Kevin Rogers. This is a 3 month group that happens 2-3 times per year with the intention of developing leadership among those who desire to start their own Home Community. For information regarding the next equipping group, or any other questions regarding Home Communities, email Kyle Costello at , or call him at 503-231-5096.
I am interested in coming and visit Imago Dei to learn more about the vision and mission of the church. In what ways can I experience community when I visit? What are some local hotels and hostels that I could look into?
If you are interested in coming to Imago Dei to learn more about us we encourage you to come to a Sunday service and the Guest Forum directly after each service (you will learn more about the vision & mission of Imago Dei, our various ministries and how to connect into community). You can also experience a Home Community, a Connection Group and/or a School of Theology class.
One hotel that is in the Lloyd Center district is The Doubletree Hotel. The Kennedy School is a beautifully renovated elementary school with guest rooms, a restaurant, bars and a theatre (this is our personal favorite). For the hostel on Hawthorne street click here. What is the Belmont Foundation?
The Belmont Foundation is a not-for profit ministry of Imago Dei Community. The vision for the Belmont Foundation is to provide aid for single mothers and role models for children growing up without fathers. The percentage of families dealing with these issues is staggering. Close to 85% of youths in prison come from fatherless homes. That is 20 times the average. 71% of high school drops outs come from fatherless homes which is 9 times the average. The vision is not only to help attack and lower these statistics but to provide support and aid for the single mothers that have been left to do it all on there own. While the work of the Belmont Foundation will begin in the Portland Area, our five-year plan involves branching out to other cities, partnering with solid, Bible-believing and teaching churches who desire to reach out to single mothers and involve themselves in the lives of children growing up without fathers. We are not only looking for financial and material support but also support in the way of donating your time. We need people that feel like they could give some of their time and skills in efforts to give aid to the single mom's community within Imago Dei and the greater community here in Portland. We are also looking at bringing together a group of mature men that could go through a mentoring workshop in hopes to set up a program for mentoring the fatherless youths in our area. If you would like more information check out the website at www.belmontfoundation.org.
I am looking for a church that is similar to Imago Dei in my home town. Do you have a list of churches I could look into?
Check out the Acts 29 Network website or The Ooze website for churches in the United States. Please do your own research to see what the beliefs and theology are.
I am looking for a roommate or place to rent. Does Imago Dei have a resource for that?
Yes, we do. The Imago Dei Needs e-mail list is the way that people communicate their need to the community. To sign up click here and click on "Join this Group". You must join the list to post to it. Since anyone can gain access to the group please check their references and use caution. You can also check out Craigs List under the housing section.

What is Global Outreach?
Global Outreach is the externally focused ministry that exists to fulfill the global piece of the vision of Imago Dei Community, “to take the whole gospel to the whole person to the whole world”. How do I receive support/backing from IDC for the short-term mission trip I want to lead/go on?
The first step is membership and participation in the community and ministry of IDC. IDC recognizes membership as an essential piece of the relationship that we seek to have with those whose global endeavors we support/back. The second step is to submit a proposal to which briefly answers: who (Who is going?), with (With whom and/or through whom are you going?), where (Where are you going?), when (When are you going?), what (What is the purpose of the trip?), how and what (How much and what kind of support are you requesting from IDC?). The proposal should be submitted six months prior to approximate trip date for those desiring to lead a team from IDC and three months prior to approximate trip date for those going on a team from outside IDC or going on their own. The proposal will then considered and you will be contacted regarding the support that IDC will extend to you.

Imago Dei Kids FAQ's
How does your computer check in system work? (laminated badges, scanners, program, etc)
Our computer program was written by a programmer in our church and is continually in development. It has multiple functions such as: database, family & child pages with photos and all their info, check in screen that tracks which kids were present for which classes on which day, and a function to print reports (birthdays, which kids were present on which days, database info, and child badges). We laminate the badges that the program prints. They each have a bar code where a scanner can check in both a child and volunteer into the system. There are systems similar to this for sale on the web. Our programmer hopes to one day have this program available for sale to other churches.
