Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen; to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter – when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away you’re your own flesh and blood? (Isaiah 58:6-7)
Religious activity that is not connected to love for the broken in our world is not really impressive to God. His desire is that our love for Him be shown in our love for those He has created. So we want to care for His creation; the earth for which we have been given the responsibility to manage and people toward whom we are to extend love and grace, working to ensure justice for the common good. This is our missional journey.
