One of the places in our world where brokenness shows up is in the fragility of our health. Whether it’s the HIV/AIDS pandemic or cancer or some other life threatening illness, we cannot escape from the human condition. We are susceptible to illness and death. In the moments of life where fear and finances and medical technology and love and hope all intersect, Jesus calls his people to be in the middle of it. When people are overwhelmed or lonely or afraid or confused, they need others to understand them, to walk with them, to make up for what their illness threatens to rob them of.
